Irish Crime, the first dedicated crime magazine published in the Republic of Ireland, has gone on sale.
Its editor is Michael Sheridan, who has written a number of bestselling books on crime as well as the script for When the Sky Falls, the film about murdered Irish journalist Veronica Guerin.
Sheridan said that, with books about crime getting into the Irish bestsellers’ list, he saw considerable scope for a crime magazine. With 48 pages, Irish Crime is selling for €2.95 (£2.05).
He is hoping for an initial sale of 10,000 copies, rising to double that.
The cover story is an analysis of the case of Catherine Nevin, who was found guilty of killing her publican husband. It also features an interview with the parents of a French woman living in Cork whose murder has never been solved.
The magazine is published by New Century Publishing.
