Citizen journalism picture agency Scoopt and open-access picture archive service fotoLibra are to cross-promote their services to members of each service.
FotoLibra managing director Gwyn Headley said: “We’re an archive and library rather than a news agency, so linking with Scoopt allows us to offer both sets of our members a full service. We're levelling the playing field and already making stars of previously unknown photographers. Schoolteacher Linda Wright's bird photographs are now selling around the world.”
Scoopt founder Kyle MacRae said: “Scoopt sells news and entertainment pictures and videos to newspapers, magazines and broadcasters. This is a specialist area of photography where content is often more important than composition, but we know by the range and quality of photographs being submitted to Scoopt that our members are also producing great stock photos that could be profitably licensed for books, posters and advertising. We are therefore delighted to promote fotolibra to Scoopt members in order that they can make money from all their photography."
Founded in July 2005, Scoopt was the world's first commercial citizen journalism agency. It claims “thousands” of members.
