A former journalist on the Sheffield (Morning) Telegraph, Peter Harvey, is compiling a list of reporters and sub-editors who worked on the paper which closed in 1986 after publishing for more than a century.
The finished document will be held in the Sheffield City Library archives and it is possible that copies will be available for newspaper historians.
Harvey, who worked for the paper from 1951 until it was closed, served as a news editor, municipal correspondent and columnist before completing his career on the Sheffield Star.
He is compiling a Who Was Who of the Sheffield Telegraph, 1856-1986 and is busy researching and trying to track down anyone who worked in the editorial department, news, features or sport.
Harvey's former colleague, Keith Farnsworth, said: "It is very much a labour of love, and a couple of his old workmates are helping with the research. He would love to hear from any ex-Telegraph men now spread all over the world."
Harvey can be contacted on: 0114 236 6344 or at 82 Abbeydale Road South, Millhouses, Sheffield S7 2QS.
