Deputy editor of Bliss magazine, Annabel Brog, has been appointed editor of rival title Sugar.
Brog has been at Bliss since 2002 where she joined as assistant editor, features, rising to deputy editor alongside editor Helen Johnson.
She has also freelanced for the Sunday Times Style, the Independent, Sunday Express and magazines including, She, FHM, B and More! Brog will help to shape a relaunch which is planned for the spring of next year.
Reporting directly to Hachette Filipacchi UK’s general manager Julie Harris, Brog succeeds Nick Chalmers who is moving from the position of editor of Sugar to work solely on a new magazine idea within Hachette Filipacchi UK’s special projects division.
Julie Harris, general manager of Hachette Filipacchi UK, commented: “I was totally bowled over by her energy, enthusiasm and genuinely new ideas and I have no doubt that Annabel takes Sugar into 2005.”
Brog added: “This is a fantastic opportunity and although I love working with Bliss and all the people there, this is a great challenge and I couldn’t not do it.”
In the January – June ABC period Sugar maintained a strong lead of 40,000 ahead of its rival.
Brog’s appointment is effective from 1 November.
