The deputy editor of Campaign, Claire Beale, has been promoted to editor of the weekly magazine.
Campaign’s previous editor since 2000, Caroline Marshall, becomes executive editor with responsibility for special projects. Francesca Newland moves up from news editor to the deputy editor post.
The appointments at the Haymarket title come ahead of a redesign due to be completed by the autumn. The magazine will enhance its coverage of media and marketing issues and widen its appeal to the core creative advertising community.
Beale has been deputy editor since 2000. She said the editorial changes coincided with signs of economic recovery in the advertising sector: “There are real signs of a return to health in our industry and the changes we’re making are designed to capture and build upon this new confidence.”
Rufus Olins, managing director of Haymarket Management Publications, added: “Claire is a shrewd observer of the tumultuous changes that have taken place within the advertising industry over the past few years and has a deep understanding of the issues which it now faces.”
Beale takes up her role on 2 August.
