Radio 4's Today programme is up for five gongs at this year's Sony Radio Academy Awards. Its nominations include the breaking news award and the news and current affairs programme award. Today presenter John Humphrys is competing with fellow journalist on the programme, Mike Thomson, for news journalist of the year.
Humphrys is also nominated for speech broadcaster of the year, competing against LBC's Anna Raeburn, BBC London 94.9's Eddie Nestor, George Arney from the BBC World Service and BBC London 94.9's Vanessa Feltz.
The BBC leads the nominations with 83, compared with 50 for commercial radio.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Sony awards. The winners are to be announced at a ceremony on the evening of Monday 30 April at Grosvenor House.
