Baker back at BBC London

By Press Gazette

Danny Baker is returning to BBC London 94.9FM after a summer sabbatical pursuing personal projects.

Baker
who won ‘DJ of the Year’ at this year’s Sony radio awards for his
breakfast show on BBC London 94.9 will move to the weekday afternoon
show at 3-5pm. “People are unaware that I was actually born and raised
at 35 Marylebone High Street (BBC London’s HQ) in the old Studio Two to
be precise, back when it was still known as The Lord Reith Umbrella for
Unwanted Cockney Orphans,” Baker said.

“My new life of indolence
was going wonderfully well until I was offered a new show back at the
old place that both intrigued and stimulated me,

“‘How about’, they said, ‘coming back and doing what you do – but
this time in a way that would NOT require you to get up at 4.44am?’. I
must say the boldness and risk inherent in the scheme both fascinated
and, yes, intimidated me. NOT getting up while it was still dark eh?
Why those crafty, crazy mad BBC London so-and-so’s…”

Baker will return to the station on Monday 17 October on the same
day that Jono Coleman and JoAnne Good present their first Breakfast
show.
