The chairman of a Muslim media organisation has been the victim of a suspected racially motivated anthrax hoax.
Police were called last week to the home of Qassim Afzal, chairman of the Muslim Media Network, after he received suspicious powder and a malicious letter in the post.
Afzal telephoned police after he opened a brown envelope, addressed to the media research and production organisation, and found traces of a grey powder.
Inside the envelope was a hand-written note which read: "Attishoo, Attishoo we all fall down."
Although police, who are treating the incident as a racial hate crime, believe the powder is pepper, it is undergoing tests.
Greater Manchester Police said it could have been either the work of a single person or a far right group.
