The Guardian’s deputy comment editor, and associate editor on the Comment is Free blog, Toby Manhire has been appointed editor of the paper’s Comment section.
Manhire joined the Guardian in 2000 to work on its Editor supplement and worked as launch editor of Guardian Student Weekly before becoming deputy editor on the Saturday pages.
Executive comment editor Georgina Henry said Manhire’s experience working in print and online would be “invaluable” in the development of Guardian Comment.
Manhire replaces Seumas Milne from next month. Milne is to become a full-time columnist and associate editor for Comment as well as writing a weekly comment column, a blog for Comment is Free and contributing across The Guardian.
