The Hull Daily Mail has launched a campaign for better protection of British troops in Iraq.
The paper is campaigning with the family of Luke Simpson, 21, who was killed in a roadside bomb near Basra while riding in a lightly-armoured Land Rover. The paper claimed he was one of at least 20 soldiers to die in action in Land Rovers.
Mail reporter Kevin Shoesmith got exclusive interviews, photographs and video footage showing soldiers in Iraq using the vehicles.
The Ministry of Defence had previously denied that soldiers were patrolling in the vehicles, but Defence Minister Des Browne has now admitted that the practice goes on, after the Mail produced evidence.
