A dedicated channel for BBC News clips will be part of the corporation's partnership with YouTube.
Short-form BBC content will be available on the internet site — creating BBC branded "channels" operating under separate BBC and BBC Worldwide agreements.
The move is partially based on a keenness by the BBC to bring new audiences to the iPlayer service as well as bring in revenue via BBC Worldwide to supplement the licence fee.
Clips of BBC News will be available to users outside the UK only — because of the use of advertising on the channels.
