The Press Association has struck a deal with Press Gazette to sponsor regional newspaper recruitment advertisements in the magazine.
Regional newspaper publishers will from this week be able to place vacancies across one or two pages dedicated to the sector, at no cost.
The regional press has had a tough year commercially — with widespread job cuts — and the initiative hopes to extend the reach of regional advertising beyond a handful of online-only alternatives.
PA editorial director Tony Watson said: "The PA is happy to support this initiative, which offers assistance to our regional newspaper customers by providing the opportunity to advertise selected editorial vacancies free of charge."
Press Gazette editor Ian Reeves added: "Press Gazette has been reporting the peaks and troughs of the regional newspaper market for 40 years, and so we're well aware that the challenges faced by editors in recent times has made it difficult for them to advertise their vacancies with us.
"That's why we're delighted to have the generous backing of the Press Association in this initiative, which we hope will go some way to help editors reach a wider audience when recruiting staff."
Press Gazette's website will also feature the jobs, and provides email alerts for all vacancies as they appear on the site.
