One of the longest-serving newspaper librarians, Walter Macauley, is retiring after 45 years at the Belfast Telegraph.
Macauley spent his entire career at the paper which he joined as a 15-year-old copy boy and rose to become chief librarian. Friends and colleagues threw a St Patrick’s Day leaving do for him and presented him with a framed caricature.
