Tesco Magazine has announced its new editor as Dawn Alford, who once
bought cannabis from Jack Straw’s son for a Daily Mirror story.
Alford
takes on the job for contract publisher Cedar Communications, which
also publishes High Life for British Airways. Tesco Magazine has a
print run of two million and is free to customers.
Alford said
the magazine’s content mirrored that of any paid-for lifestyle glossy.
She said: “Quality features by highly regarded writers and columnists
sit alongside fashion spreads, beauty advice and a range of food ideas
and recipes.
“What is immediately evident on picking up the magazine is that it is not just about selling Tesco products.”
Alford began her career on local newspapers before joining the News of The World as features writer.
She went on to work for the Sunday Express before joining the Mirror to coedit the Sorted investigations column.
