The Rugby Football Union has appointed Tony Simpson, currently sports editor at the Craven Herald, its Northern Division press officer.
The role will involve him keeping the Northern media in touch with what’s happening across the rugby union spectrum.
Simpson said: “I’ve worked with the Rugby Union before, so when the opportunity to go back came up, I applied and thankfully got the job.”
He worked at the Yorkshire Evening Post for 17 years as swimming correspondent, before joining the Herald in 2000.
