Conservative Party leader Michael Howard has agreed to address members of the regional press at a lunch event in July.
Howard will speak about issues relating to the regional press at the Newspaper Conference Annual Lunch on 8 July at the Lanesborough Hotel in London.
The Newspaper Conference is made up of the political and London editors and correspondents of regional newspapers in membership of the Newspaper Society.
Kirsty Buchanan, chairwoman of the Newspaper Conference and political editor of the Western Mail, said: “I am delighted that Michael Howard has agreed to attend this year’s Newspaper Conference Annual Lunch. Regional newspapers are a vital element in local life across the country and politicians recognise how important these newspapers are to their constituencies.”
Regional newspaper staff wanting to attend the lunch should visit the Newspaper Conference page at www.
