The Independent is further expanding distribution of the tabloid version to include the whole of the South East.
This week the “compact” Independent, as the paper is now being called by its publishers, was available in newsagents in the North West as well as Greater London, where it was launched a month ago.
Next Tuesday it goes on sale across the South East and it will soon be available everywhere in the country, according to Independent News and Media chief executive Ivan Fallon.
The Independent has claimed an increase in sales of 20,000 a day since the tabloid-size option was launched.
Fallon said: “Our intention is to make it available to as many people across Britain in the shortest space of time.”
