Jack magazine has appointed Maxim executive editor Michael Hodges as its new editor, after the departure of James Brown last week, writes Ruth Addicott.
The announcement comes a week after the completion of the takeover of I Feel Good, Jack’s publisher, by Maxim owner Dennis Publishing.
Hodges was previously executive editor on Maxim Fashion and has written for The Observer and The Sunday Times.
He told Press Gazette it was the job he wanted. “The great thing about Jack is that it’s already by far and away the most interesting older men’s title. I don’t have any criticisms, arguably it could be a bit tidier but so could a lot of magazines. Jack is absolutely rammed with good ideas, they just need to breathe a bit more,” he said.
Hodges is expected to work with Brown, who has taken on the role of consultant editorial director and Alan Lewis, former NME, Kerrang! and Sounds editor.
Lewis, who was instrumental in the launch of Loaded and Uncut, will also take on the role of editorial consultant.
Dennis has confirmed the magazine will increase to a minimum of 308 pages from the November issue, plus big investment in editorial.
