The main attraction is Queen’s University Belfast’s Agreement 25 Conference, which runs from Monday to Wednesday (17-19 April) and features a who’s who of people involved in the original negotiations and the current efforts to restore power sharing in Northern Ireland.

Wednesday will see Prime Minister Rishi Sunak return to Belfast for the second time in a week to deliver a keynote address at the conference and host a gala dinner to commemorate the anniversary. Sunak’s visit to injured PSNI detective John Caldwell on Wednesday and the discovery of pipe bombs following a republican parade on Easter Monday underscored the tense situation on the ground, while Biden urged the return of the devolved government that has been suspended for over a year.
