The Merseyside Media Network, the new organisation for journalists on Merseyside, held its official launch in the week Liverpool won its Capital of Culture bid.
In a keynote speech, Ken Bennett, secretary to The Forum, the network’s governing body, said: “We can take real pride in the knowledge that all the media played a vital part in ensuring the bid came to Liverpool.”
The network is an independent, non-profit making organisation and unlike traditional press clubs does not maintain premises or staff. The idea is to build up a network of journalists and hold different events across Merseyside. It already claims a membership of 170. For an application form, e-mail kd_bennett@yahoo.co.uk.
