Former Matlock Mercury editor Don Hale is going to the US in May to promote his book about the murder of Wendy Sewell, Town Without Pity.
Joining him on the six-day trip will be former Johnston Press colleague Stephen Booth, now a best-selling author, and thriller writer Danuta Reah.
The BBC and Hat Trick Productions are expected to start filming Hale’s story in May or June this year for screening in up to three, 60-minute episodes in September. Hale has co-written the script with Neil McKay and will be associate producer.
Derbyshire police are due to issue a statement this month about progress in the reopened murder investigation.
