Mark Williams-Thomas, the detective-turned-journalist who exposed Jimmy Savile as a paedophile in the 2012 ITV documentary “The Other Side of Jimmy Savile”, has joined Newsquest.
Williams-Thomas joins the regional publisher as group investigations editor. The company says he will “be helping to develop Newsquest’s recently launched online True Crime series ‘Charged’” as well as working with crime and investigations journalists throughout the business.
Williams-Thomas said: “For years now investigative journalism has been on the decline and so this is a really exciting opportunity… Working with local and regional journalists we will focus on shining a light in the darkest of corners [and] holding people to account”.
