Incumbent ITV News editor Rachel Corp will be ITN’s next chief executive, succeeding Deborah Turness.
Corp currently oversees more than 300 people in the UK and abroad. Her tenure as editor coincided with ITV News’ agenda-leading coverage of Partygate and the storming of the US Capitol. She told Press Gazette in February: “People thought TV audiences were dying – no, they’re not.” Corp will take over her new role on 1 September 2022, with Turness continuing at ITN in the meantime.
Turness herself previously served as ITV News editor. She is leaving to be chief executive for BBC News – a departure which The Guardian noted “has been repeatedly delayed while her current employer – arch-rival ITN – continues to make her serve out her notice period”.
