Eddie Mair retires from LBC

Mair joined LBC from the BBC four years ago.

Drivetime host Eddie Mair will retire from LBC in August 2022, nearly four years after arriving at the radio station from the BBC.

Mair said: “My only regret about LBC is not joining sooner. I’m having a ball and all things being equal would probably carry on forever… But the one thing I don’t have on my side is time.

“Like many others, during Covid I had a rethink about life and in the summer of 2020 told my bosses and close friends and colleagues about my plans to leave. I’ve been at this for 40 years and I want to have a little time for me before I croak.”

Mair’s original time slot upon joining LBC was 4pm to 6pm but this was later expanded to a three-hour programme. The 6pm to 7pm hour was recently given to Andrew Marr when he joined from the BBC.
