All UK local weekly newspapers audited by ABC in first half of this year lose sales

By Dominic Ponsford

None of the 22 UK paid-for local weekly newspapers audited by ABC in the first half of this year increase sales.

The best performer, in relative terms, was the West Highland Free Press – which fell by just 2.1 per cent year on year to 7,410.

There are more than 370 paid-for weekly newspapers in the UK but most now opt to be audited only once a year. More than 100 have withdrawn from ABC auditing altogether over the last year.

For regional Sundays see daily/Sunday newspaper chart.
