Trinity reveals eight senior appointments at national level

By William Turvill

Trinity Mirror has announced a series of new appointments at national level as part of its push for greater integration between the Daily and Sunday Mirror.

The moves come in the same week it announced it would be cutting approximately 40 group-wide editorial jobs. Some 92 position are being cut – all on the regional titles. But 52 new posts are being created, split evenly between the regionals and the nationals.

The movers include, Jon Clark, who has been appointed associate editor (production), and Shiraz Lalani, who is now executive features editor, with special responsibility for campaigns, columns and analysis.

Trinity also announced Clare Fitzsimons has been made features editor (weekdays) and Nick Webster is now deputy features editor (weekdays).

Weekend appointments went to Caroline Waterston, features editor, and Claire O’Boyle, deputy features editor.

Lloyd Embley, editor-in-Chief of the Daily and Sunday Mirror, said: "I am sure you will all agree that these announcements are incredibly positive news. Our journalism, our content, is our lifeblood.

"To thrive we need the best possible team and I believe these changes are a huge step for us."
