The Daily Mirror has announced the hire of Mail on Sunday TV columnist Ian Hyland.
Hyland, a former News of the World columnist, will be launching his new weekly TV column in the Mirror on Tuesday.
Hyland, 43, began his Fleet Street career as a showbusiness columnist on the Sunday Mirror in 2000, before leaving the paper to join the NoW.
Following the paper’s closure in July 2011 he joined the Mail on Sunday.
He said: “I am thrilled to be joining Lloyd Embley and Peter Willis and their great team at the Daily Mirror.
“I can't wait to get my teeth stuck into the programmes and personalities that we endure and enjoy in equal measure.
“I trust the TV industry will be just as happy to see me in the Mirror every Tuesday.”
Lloyd Embley, editor-in-chief of the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and Sunday People, said: "I am absolutely delighted that Ian Hyland is
joining the Daily Mirror – he is a fantastic signing.
“The Mail on Sunday describe him as Britain's best TV columnist and, on this occasion, I have to agree.
“His razor-sharp wit and candid, cutting appraisals are compelling reading. I am very happy that he will be sharing them with Mirror readers from now on.”
