UK publisher launching international gun magazine

By Daniel Macadam

David Hall Publishing has revealed plans to launch a new UK-based magazine covering the international gun trade.

Gun Trade World will be distributed free to major gun manufacturers, distributors and retailers in 101 countries, with a monthly circulation of up to 13,000 copies, the company told Press Gazette.

Daventry-based DHP currently publishes nine angling titles, including Tackle and Guns and Tackle Trade World, and is looking to launch the new magazine by the start of April if they can find a suitable editor.

David Hall, chairman of DHP, said: “Every country has its own trade magazine, but more and more because shooting is not growing countries need to export. Shooting is under threat constantly, and if you look at the UK – no sale of handguns – then you realise that people who make handguns in the UK have to look for partners abroad. That really is the focus of the magazine.

He said that the new magazine will be “very sympathetic to the sport of shooting; not provocative but sympathetic”.

He added: “I don’t need to tell you that this will be a political magazine, because shooting is political – not just in the UK but all over the world. There’s not a magazine of its type out there, but whichever country you go to they’ve got an issue with shooting. It is a massive industry though.”
