All women’s weeklies suffered a drop in circulation in the first half of 2013, according to the latest ABC figures.
Overall circulation was 12.7 per cent lower than the first six months of 2012, marking one of the biggest declines across all sectors.
Take a Break was still the leading title, recording an average circulation of 720,006 – 8.4 per cent down year-on-year.
Woman’s Weekly, Woman’s Own and National Enquirer’s UK edition were the only titles to lose 5 per cent or less of their circulation.
Three magazines experienced annual circulation drops of more than 20 per cent, with Love It! enduring the worst six months with a 27.2 decline to a circulation of 125,296. Reveal saw circulation drop by 25.9 per cent, while Star’s numbers were down 22.5 per cent.
The sector was hit in the first half by the closure of Hubert Burda Media title Full House, which boasted a circulation 138,158 for the six months to the end of 2012.
Full House’s sister title Love It! endured the biggest decline in the latest figures, suffering a 27.2 drop in circulation to 112,392. Hearst Magazine’s Reveal saw circulation drop by 25.9 per cent, while Northern & Shell’s Star was down 22.5 per cent.
