Sky News says it has reached the 10-million download milestone for its mobile applications – across iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Blackberry.
The jump from 9 million to 10 million downloads has taken five months with Android app growth especially strong and representing nearly half the rise in downloads since November.
Sky said the Ukraine crisis and the missing Malaysian Airliner have been recent big drivers to the app’s content.
Head of Sky News Digital, Andrew Hawken, said in a release:
The popularity of Sky News mobile apps continues to grow – as does their usage. These figures represent the continued evolution of our digital platforms – an area in which we constantly strive to innovate allowing our customers to access the news the way they want, when they want.
