The Trinity Mirror management team who failed to buy out the publisher’s Midlands titles have left the company.
The team was led by Midlands regional managing director John Bills and included Midlands weekly media managing director Mark Whittaker and regional finance director Robby Ryan.
It is understood that the relationship between the three managers and the company broke down after Trinity rejected their bid for the division which publishes the Birmingham Mail and Coventry Telegraph.
Regional managing director for the north east division Steve Brown has been appointed interim managing director for the Midlands.
Managing director for Cheshire and North Wales John Griffithwill join as interim managing director for Midlands weekly media.
Regionals editorial director, Neil Benson, joins the interim team as regional business development director as does regional human resources director for the southern division Richard Boon who has been made overall regional HR director.
Trinity Mirror said in a statement: “The new management team will now focus on opportunities to develop the portfolio, both in print and digital.”
“In Birmingham the immediate focus will be on the move to our new Fort Dunlop location and the introduction of new systems to be used there, both of which represent new investment in the Midlands region by Trinity Mirror.”
