Tortoise has poached Newsnight’s assistant editor Jasper Corbett, a former editor of BBC Radio 4’s Briefing Room, Analysis and From Our Own Correspondent, to be an executive editor on its audio team.
It also hired ex-Radio 4 journalist Lewis Vickers from Times Radio, where he led the breakfast show as executive producer. He is joining Tortoise in the same role.
Tortoise recently revealed plans to invest in its audio journalism. Tortoise editor and partner Ceri Thomas said: “There is a growing appetite for our journalism to be delivered in audio.
“We have built a great team of journalists and producers who are creating some of the best narrative led journalism around. 2022 will be a really exciting year with new investigations and collaborations coming up. Adding Jasper and Lewis to the team will bring even more experience and skill to the table and we are delighted to have them with us.”
