New History Today editor

Gavin Stamp joins from BBC News.

Former BBC journalist Gavin Stamp has been announced as the new editor of monthly history magazine History Today – the eighth in its 70-year history.

Stamp has worked for a decade as a politics reporter for BBC News covering four general elections, the EU referendum, the Brexit negotiations and the Iraq inquiry. He has previously worked at print titles including Media Week and Scotland on Sunday.

Stamp said: “It’s a huge honour to be joining the UK’s longest running and most prestigious history magazine. I look forward to growing our audience and building on History Today’s existing reputation.”
