Mail Online has named UK editor Danny Groom as acting global editor from next week following the departure of publisher Martin Clarke.
Groom has spent 13 years in his current role, with three years seconded to New York to set up Mail Online’s operation there as its first US editor.
He has also worked as the head of news at The Independent and spent time at the Daily Mail and The Observer.
