The BBC is doubling the size of its digital news team in the US and Canada. The corporation is creating more than 20 new editorial roles in Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles and Toronto, according to Digiday. The BBC said the additions reflect “the increased appetite for its content in the North American market”.
The drive was announced alongside the appointment of Jennie Baird as executive vice president and managing director for digital news and streaming at BBC Studios. Baird joins from News Corp, where she was senior vice president and global head of product.
