St Paul’s protesters publish newspaper

By Press Gazette

Anti-capitalist protesters camping outside London’s St Paul’s Cathedral have launched their own independent newspaper called the Occupied Times of London.

The paper is run by protest group Occupy London, which launched the title on the steps of St Paul’s and handed a framed copy to the Museum of London for their archives.

The paper consists of 12 A4-sized pages featuring comment, news, features, cartoons and event listings.

It is written largely by the camp’s occupants and had an initial print run of 2,000 which will be distributed to demonstrators, city workers and members of the public.

The paper was founded by editor-in-chief Steven Mclean and was produced in one week.

One of the editors, Mircea Barbu, said: ‘We hope that the Occupied Times of London reflects and records the movement, bringing together the wide range of voices of supporters as well as challenging the issues behind why we are all here.

‘It’s the great thing about this occupation. You can come here and get involved immediately.”
