Six of the best from the regional press including: Argus defies police to name arrested man and Hull Daily Mail says Sun wrong on dogging

By Dominic Ponsford

Here is my latest six of the best round-up of stories which have caught my eye in the regional press.

If you'd like to nominate a story for inclusion please email dominicp@pressgazette.co.uk. It will appear in this blog and could also feature on the local press review programme which I present for Latest TV in Brighton (see video below).

The Argus in Brighton took the courageous step of naming a man who was arrested by police on suspicion of deliberately seeking to infect people with HIV. The paper questioned why police refused to name the man, why he was released after arrest and why police took 18 days to alert the public.

The Express and Star in Wolverhampton details how after a three-year police review of 200 patients deaths at Mid Staffs NHS Trust no-one is going to face criminal charges.

The Hull Daily Mail seeks to debunk a Sun report claiming that the location of the new Dad's Army film, Bridlington on Sea, is a hotspot for doggers.

The Derby Telegraph reports on how its investigation into maltreatment of children at Aston Hall hospital was raised at Prime Minister's Questions.

Wales Online details how a cat which went missing in Cardiff turned up two months later 200 miles away in Kent.

And the Birmingham Mail has some great footage of flytippers who were caught in the act by council surveillance and then locked up.
