Johnston Press has agreed the sale of two Yorkshire-based weeklies to a local independent publisher.
According to Hold The Front Page, the paid-for Selby Times and free Goole Courier have both been bought by Chronicle Publications.
The website reports that four journalists will not be transferred when the sale goes through but will be given new roles at Johnston Press.
Both the Johnston Press titles came under the publisher’s South Yorkshire Newspapers imprint, which was hit by a strike in 2011 over redundancy plans.

Chronicle Publications already publishes the Goole Times and Selby Post, raising the prospect of mergers of the titles in both towns.
According to the latest figures from ABC, the Goole Courier averages a circulation of 13,181 and the Goole Times 8,905. The Selby Times has a circulation of 5,765 though there are no figures for the Selby Post.
