Former Chronicle editor and BBC Trust member Alison Hastings joins Archant board

By Freddy Mayhew

Former Newcastle Evening Chronicle editor and BBC Trust member Alison Hastings has joined regional publisher Archant’s board of directors.

Hastings will take up the role of non-executive director – a position she also holds at a number of other organisations – from 1 September.

Regional publisher Archant is headquartered in Norwich and produces daily and weekly regional publications including flagship title the Eastern Daily Press. It also produces national “pop-up” paper The New European.

Hastings, who has spent more than 18 years working in the regional press, said: “I am really excited to be joining the Board of a genuinely progressive local media company.

“The recent launch of The New European demonstrated Archant’s innovative approach – something I am looking forward to experiencing first hand.”

Archant chairman Simon Bax said her addition to the board was a “great appointment”, adding: “She brings not only a wealth of experience within the industry, but has also worked closely with companies going through digital transformations, making her the perfect choice to join our board at a time of significant change.”
