Newsquest is making ten more redundancies at its Herald titles in Glasgow.
The move comes despite circulation success for the Sunday Herald, which grew by 35 per cent year on year in the second half of 2014 to 32, 204.
In November, the group launched a new pro-Scottish independence daily called The National.
Sales of The Herald fell 4.9 per cent in the second half of last year to 37,044.
The Herald and Times group also publishes Glasgow Daily, the Evening Times, which fell 12.3 per cent year on year to 31,376.
The cutbacks will see the various titles work more closely together.
Managing director Tim Blott is quoted on Holdthefrontpage as saying: “We have been investing in new talent and roles where requirements and audiences are growing, but it is also necessary for us to reduce certain functions in our back-office and editorial departments.
“The consultation on redundancy disclosed to staff is being conducted in full and very close review with the NUJ.”
