Three had a half years after her resignation as chief executive of News International, Rebekah Brooks is back on the News Corp payroll, according to The Mail on Sunday.
It reports that she has moved to America with a brief to find promising internet start-ups for News Corp to invest in.
One un-named insider told The Mail on Sunday: “This is a high-status job at the top of the business.”
Brooks resigned on 15 July 2011 just over a week after The Guardian broke news that News of the World journalists at listened to the voicemail messages of Milly Dowler.
In June 2014, after an eight-month trial at the Old Bailey, Brooks was cleared of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office and conspiracy to intercept mobile phone messages.
According to the Daily Mail, Brooks received pay-offs totaling £16m for loss of office and to pay for legal fees.
