Newspaper website ABCs: Express and Daily Star only titles to grow month on month in December

By William Turvill

The websites of the Express and Daily Star were the only sites audited by ABC to grow month on month in December.

The UK's biggest news website, Mail Online, saw its traffic increase by 25 per cent on December 2013 as it recorded an average 12,243,627 daily browsers.

The Associated Newspapers site also recorded a new record for global monthly unique visitors, with 199,414,263 visiting the site and apps over the month.

TheGuardian.com's average daily traffic was 5,899,757 last month, up 28 per cent, and Mirror.co.uk's was 3,509,188, up 73 per cent.

Express.co.uk was also the only national newspaper website not to record its lowest number of unique browsers on Christmas Day – and, in fact, beat its average for the month, attracting 883,756 unique browsers.
