Twenty aspiring journalists from around the UK are to take part in a week-long summer school next week hosted by News UK.
Over the week they will produce their own newspaper and see it roll off the presses at News UK’s Broxbourne print site.
The event follows a year of conferences and school visits arranged by News UK as part of its News Academy initiative.
Highlights of the week include:
- Taking parting in a photoshoot interview with singer Nicole Scherzinger
- Meet and greet with Sun editor David Dinsmore
- Dscussing women in journalism with Eleanor Mills, editorial director of The Sunday Times
- The art of interviewing with Sunday Times columnist Camilla Long
- Fashion session with Gemma Calvert, acting assistant editor of Fabulous magazine
- Session with Times columnist Mick Hume on how to write
- Politics discussion with David Wooding, Sun on Sunday political editor and Trevor Kavanagh, political columnist at The Sun
- Understanding features with Sean Hamilton, deputy head of content at The Sun
- Writing a column with Sunday Times columnist Robert Crampton
- Sports reporting with Geoff Sweet, deputy news editor of Sun Sport
Dinsmore said: "It is vital that we invest in the next generation of journalists and I'm sure that we have some stars in the making joining us at the Summer School. I’m very proud to be part of the News Academy and hope that the students will feel inspired by what they learn with us."
