National press ABCs: Times only title to increase print circulation in August

By Dominic Ponsford

The Times was the only UK national newspaper to increase print circulation last month according to ABC.

Its average daily print sale increased by 1.3 per cent year on year to 396,671 in August 2014. Just under half of that increase was accounted for by an increase in free bulk copies from 19,862 a year ago to 22,145 last month.

The fastest falling UK-wide national daily was the Daily Star, which fell 14 per cent year on year.

Trinity Mirror’s Scottish titles had a particularly bad month: the Daily Record fell 16 per cent year on year to 212,182 and the Sunday Mail fell 17 per cent to 240,100.
