By Dominic Ponsford

Mail Online continued to be the dominant UK national newspaper website in July reaching 73 million global unique browsers, according to ABC.

Mail Online grew by 65 per cent year-on-year but is yet to equal the high of 77.3m global unique browsers which it hit in May.

The Guardian was in second place with just under 50 million global unique browsers followed by the Telegraph which reached just over 38m.

Just looking at the UK, ABC reckons that Mail Online reached 24.7 million unique browsers over the month – so well over half the online population, if the figures are to be believed. According to ABC, Mail Online reached 1.76m unique browsers a day in the UK.

The Guardian is the only other national newspaper website to publish UK daily and monthly figures. According to ABC it reached 1.2m unique browsers a day in the UK in July and 18.5m unique monthly browsers.
