The editor of the UK’s third most read national daily newspaper – Metro – is stepping down after 15 years in the job.
Kenny Campbell is being replaced by Ted young, who is currently online editor of the New York Daily News.
Young is a former editor of Mail Online.
Metro editor-in-chief (and Daily Mail editor) Paul Dacre said: “I would like to pay tribute to outgoing editor Kenny Campbell for his tremendous contribution to the company, both in Scotland and London for over 15 years."
Campbell said: “It has been my privilege to be part of the team that took Metro from its creation and turned it into the world's most successful free newspaper.
“I have seen its readership soar to 3.7million as it became an essential part of commuters' lives.
“I have led a fantastic and talented group of people at the paper and, after 15 remarkable years, it is time to move on.
"I wish every success to them, and to those at DMG Media who had the foresight and courage to launch Metro."
Campbell joined Metro at launch in 1999 and became editor in 2001.
In March, it was announced that the Metro website was to merge with Mail Online as the title gave more focus to its print edition.
Metro has editions in London, Sheffield, Leeds, Wales, Merseyside, London, Midlands, Scotland and the North East.
The free Metro has a daily circulation of just over 1.3m putting it in third place behind The Sun and Daily Mail in terms of print run.
