Investors Chronicle is to celebrate its 150th anniversary this year with a series of special features throughout the next 12 months.
The paid-for weekly business magazine, published by the Financial Times, will run a number of special supplements over the year in addition to a collector’s edition of the title planned for late September.
The magazine will also carry a special commemorative logo for the year featuring the strap line “150 Years of Trusted Advice and Tips.”
In addition, the title’s website will introduce a detailed history of the title and information on famous former employees such as Robert Peston and Nigel Lawson.
Jonathan Eley, Investors Chronicle editor, told Press Gazette: “We have about 150,000 unique users [online], far bigger than our print reader base and a lot of those people are just casual browsers who maybe aren’t familiar with the history and heritage of the publication.
“We want to educate them about how long we’ve been around and how trustworthy we are.”
He added: “We feel there is a great long term opportunity in the sense that more and more people have to take responsibility for their own investment decisions and their own financial futures.
“Our ‘Golden Rules of Investing’ supplement will take things right back to basics and hopefully make the terminology and concepts easy to understand.”
The Investors Chronicle website is also planning to introduce new blogs and a portfolio analysis competition to engage readers throughout the year.
The magazine had an average weekly readership of 30,027 in the first half of last year, according to the most recent figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations, a fall of 5.9 per cent year-on-year.
