The Guardian has scrapped plans to launch a journalism MA in association with Cardiff University.
The plan was first confirmed in September 2012 when editor Alan Rusbridger said: "Everything about the media is there to be re-imagined and reshaped. Our new masters degree in journalism with digital media will be applicable to a wide range of careers, from news to website content management and social media.”
The Guardian had gone has far to advertise for staff to run the course, but in May this year the plan was pushed back by a year.
Today a spokesperson for Guardian News and Media said: "The Guardian is always talking to academic institutions about potential partnerships. After extensive talks with Cardiff about the development of a potential MA journalism programme we have jointly decided that we will not be launching a masters course. We continue to talk to Cardiff about possible collaborations in the future."
