Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

City AM launches new bi-monthly luxury magazine replacing its existing lifestyle, property and money titles

By Freddy Mayhew

Business newspaper City AM has launched a new magazine to be published six times a year that will replace all of its existing magazines, covering lifestyle, food and drink, travel and property.

The newly launched City AM Magazine nearly doubles the number of magazine pages produced by the title, up to 100. New content includes a feature interview, editor’s letter and contributors page.

Select issues of the magazine will also focus on “elements that have traditionally resonated with CITY AM readers” including watches, jewellery, technology and destination travel, said a spokesperson.

The move means City AM no longer publishes the Bespoke (monthly, luxury lifestyle), Living (five issues a year, luxury property) and Money (six issues a year, personal finance) magazine titles.

No editorial staff have been made redundant, Press Gazette was told.

Whereas previous magazines were handed out alongside the daily City AM newspaper, a spokesperson said the new title will be distributed “over the course of two months” by hand and for pick-up at select locations.

It will have initial run of 90,000 copies.

City AM lifestyle editor Steve Dinneen said: “It has never been a struggle to find great writing – but rather, deciding which pieces we have space to run with.

“Moving to a larger format means we have more opportunities to bring in guest writers and publish the longer, award-winning features we have become known for, throughout the City and beyond.

“One of the great strengths of City AM is that we know and understand our readers very well – the new magazine will allow us to better reach them in the right environments and give them much more of our engaging content, whether they’re interested in travel, culture, food or property.”

Chief operating officer Harry Owen added: “The new format of City AM Magazine combines the best of our existing titles and allows us to create greater value for advertisers despite only publishing six issues a year, by increasing the shelf-life and the dwell time across a range of editorial.”

Following the first issue of the title, which launched today, further editions will be published in July, September, November and December this year.
