TSL Education is today relaunching the Times Educational Supplement Scotland (TESS) as a full-colour magazine.
The new-look TESS dispenses with the traditional newspaper format which it has used for almost half-a-century to instead become a 48-page news magazine.
The revamp is intended at providing an enhanced focus on providing more in-depth, research-led investigations into the teaching profession.
Press Gazette understands that the shift of format will not result in any permanet staffing changes on the TESS.
The first issue also includes an investigation in teaching jobs, looking at where vacancies can be found, where the subject shortages are and examining the retirement deals.
The magazine will also include a new dedicated Scottish education jobs section, careers advice and professional development tools, including best practice teaching resources for the Scottish classroom.
Former First Minister Jack McConnell and current incumbent Alex Salmond feature in the first issue of the new-look title.
Gillian Macdonald, TESS editor, said: “I am delighted to announce the launch of the new TESS and am excited about the radical changes we have introduced to ensure the publication continues to serve the needs of the Scottish teaching workforce.
“The new magazine has been developed in partnership with teachers to ensure that TESS remains the journal for busy teaching professionals in Scotland.”
